If an adequately skilled school system provides the necessary ABA Therapy for a child with ASD in the elementary years, over two million dollars during the lifetime of that child will be saved in taxpayer funded programs that will no longer be required due to early intervention.
While healthy babies learn social interaction by focusing their gaze on people's eyes, it seems that autistic children focus more on mouths. Knowing this behavior in the early stage of a child's life could help parents and doctors identify affected children earlier and get the early intervention that is needed.
